Mix-in: Oil Free Anti-oxidant Spray

After Sun Spray

Along the Pacific, clouds move in from the ocean each morning and evening bringing with them cool relief & respite from the heat of the sun.  This weather phenomenon is known as the marine layer.

This antioxidant mist is called Marine Layer Anti-oxidant Mist because it also provides cool relief during and after sun exposure.

Packaged in a spray bottle (& also offered in a pocket sized spritzer) so that you're able to apply with ease even when you're out and about, this spray features:

  • antioxidants
  • peptides to protect your skin from the effects of UV rays
  • soothing ingredients to provide relief for sun weary skin

About the antioxidants:  Vitamin C pairs with the peptides, Preventhelia and Juveleven, to shield your skin from the effects of UV exposure and other environmental pollutants.

About the soothing ingredients:  Aloe, rose & cucumber hydrosols, and the peptide, Telangyn, help to soothe and hydrate sun exposed skin reducing the appearance of redness.

The pocket size spritzer is perfect for traveling with you anywhere whether you're spending a day at the beach, a morning at the farmer's market, or an afternoon in nature.

The pocket spritzer contains enough antioxidant mist for about 50 sprays, and the 2 ounce size is especially soothing and helpful for larger areas of sunburned skin.

While I was out on a fishing trip with my dad, I found myself in need of reapplying my antioxidant face lotion.

There was just one small problem.

My hands were gross and there was no way to wash them.  While waiting for the next nibble, I started wondering "Wouldn't it be great if I had a pocket size spritzer packed with antioxidants and other ingredients to help shield my skin from the effects of the sun's rays?"

While I didn't bring any fish home that day, it was far from a bad day of fishing - that trip spawned the idea for Marine Layer Anti-oxidant Mist.

Sunscreens are intended to sit on top of your skin reflecting UV rays off your skin or de-energizing the UV ray by reacting with it at your skin's surface.

Rather than block UV rays from penetrating into your skin, antioxidants work below your skin's surface and soak up reactive oxygen species (ROS).

These reactive oxygen species, which include free radicals, are generated as by-products when the energetic UV ray reacts with molecules in your skin.  In this way, anti-oxidants protect your skin from the effects of UV rays while sunscreens (when sitting on top of your skin) protect your skin from UV rays.

Because anti-oxidants need to soak into your skin to provide maximum protection, layering your product application works best.

And, it's also important to apply at least 30 minutes before getting into the water to give the antioxidants time to soak into your skin rather than just being washed off when you get into the water.

Unlike sunscreen, antioxidants also help your body recover from the effects of sun exposure.  The antioxidants and peptides in this formula have been shown to help with DNA and cellular repair following sun exposure.*

Spritz onto your skin anytime you need a refreshing mist. Avoid getting this product into your eyes.

When to apply:

Routine use:  Apply in the morning after your skincare routine.

For a day outside:  Apply throughout the day as needed and at least 30 minutes before getting into water.

After sun care:  Apply to skin* during and after sun exposure and at least twice per day (once in the morning and once in the evening).  Apply after bathing or showering.

*NOTE:  In cases of severe sunburn (second degree burns), seek medical attention.  Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin.

Vitamin C is an incredible multi-functional skincare ingredient and is included in this toner because of its anti-oxidant properties.  Vitamin C is the most abundant anti-oxidant in your skin.

Since your body doesn't make Vitamin C naturally, eating foods rich in vitamin C and applying it topically can boost your reserves, which is important when you're in sunlight (anti-oxidant stores can be quickly exhausted when you're in the sun).

The peptides Preventhelia and Juveleven help shield the skin from the effects of UV exposure and environmental pollutants.

Sodium PCA is a skin identical natural moisturizing factor that helps skin maintain its optimum hydration.  This humectant is oil free and vegan (of course).

Cucumber hydrosol soothes the skin while rose hydrosol helps minimize the appearance of pores and balance oiliness.  Both of these hydrosols are certified organic.
