Sunscreen Alternative & After Sun Spray

I don't wear sunscreen (watch this video to find out why). I wear Marine Layer.

This spray's not a sunscreen, instead it's rich in antioxidants and petpides shown to prevent cellular damage during UV exposure and help cellular repair after sun exposure. It also contains ingredients that soothe sunburned skin. Here's what's in it:

  • Vitamin C (antioxidant) to protect from damage caused by free radicals and reactive oxygen species formed when you're in sunlight

  • 3 peptides (Preventhelia, Juveleven, and Telangyn) to protect cells during sun exposure and support cellular recovery post-sun

  • Aloe, cucumber, and rose hydrosol (soothing ingredients) to provide relief after too much sun

Why a spray bottle?

  1. You can apply easily anytime even when you're not able to wash your hands.

  2. If you happen to be sunburned, you can apply without having to touch the burn.

The pocket size spritzer is perfect for taking with you anywhere (~50 sprays) and you'll find yourself using the 2 ounce size on sunburned skin anywhere on your body.

While I was out on a fishing trip with my dad, I had every intention of reapplying my antioxidant face lotion.

There was just one small problem.

My hands were gross and there was no way to wash them.  While waiting for the next nibble, I started wondering "Wouldn't it be great if I had a pocket size spritzer packed with antioxidants and other ingredients to help ward off sun damage?"

While I didn't bring any fish home that day, it was far from a bad day of fishing - that trip spawned the idea for Marine Layer Anti-oxidant Mist.

Why the name?

Along the Pacific, clouds move in from the ocean each morning and evening bringing with them cool relief & respite from the heat of the sun.  This weather phenomenon is known as the marine layer.

This antioxidant mist is called Marine Layer Anti-oxidant Mist because it also provides cool relief during and after sun exposure.

Spritz onto your skin anytime you need a refreshing mist. Avoid getting this product into your eyes.

When to apply:

Routine use:  Apply in the morning after your skincare routine.

For a day outside:  Apply throughout the day as needed and at least 30 minutes before getting into water.

After sun care:  Apply to skin* during and after sun exposure and at least twice per day (once in the morning and once in the evening).  Apply after bathing or showering.

*NOTE:  In cases of severe sunburn (second degree burns), seek medical attention.  Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin.

Vitamin C is an incredible multi-functional skincare ingredient and is included in this toner because of its anti-oxidant properties.  Vitamin C is the most abundant anti-oxidant in your skin.

Since your body doesn't make Vitamin C naturally, eating foods rich in vitamin C and applying it topically can boost your reserves, which is important when you're in sunlight (anti-oxidant stores can be quickly exhausted when you're in the sun).

The peptides Preventhelia and Juveleven help shield the skin from the effects of UV exposure and environmental pollutants.

Sodium PCA is a skin identical natural moisturizing factor that helps skin maintain its optimum hydration.  This humectant is oil free and vegan (of course).

Cucumber hydrosol soothes the skin while rose hydrosol helps minimize the appearance of pores and balance oiliness.  Both of these hydrosols are certified organic.

Water, Rosa damascena (Rose) Hydrosol*, Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Cucumis sativus (Cucumber) Hydrosol*, Lactobacillus Ferment, Sodium PCA, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Diaminopropionoyl Tripeptide-33 (Preventhelia®), Acetyl Hexapeptide-51 Amide (Juveleven™), Acetyl Tetrapeptide-40 (Telangyn™), Raspberry Ketone, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol

*Certified Organic
